My children

The older my two kids get the more I enjoy their company. Some days it is hard to only talk to a 3 year old but most days I realize what intelligent conversations I am having with my three year old! Khalil is such a loving boy who is constantly learning and discovering. Every day during Kambria's nap we have mommy and Khalil time. He gets to choose what we do. Lately he has chosen to work on his alphabet. He has know the names of them all but he is now working on writing his letters. It amazes me how fast he learns. He can now write every letter but is trying to stay within the lines. When he is finished he looks at me with his head tilted and smiles saying "I make you so happy!" I can't help but smile back and say "ya buddy you do!" as he is jumping into my arms for a big hug. I cherish the moments that he thinks he can't live without me in the room (yes I do need to get away at times) but it makes me sad when I hear him calling "mommy I NEEEED You" as I walk out the door. I hear "mommy I NEEED you" as he is trying to fall asleep, usually in my bed or I hear it in the middle of the night as he is coming to my bed. He is a very intelligent boy and I need him too.
Kambria is my little miss personality! She is only 18 months and it is her way or screaming! We get lots of screaming. There are some major pro's to have such an opinionated daughter. She is almost completely potty trained all by her own doing. I don't dare to leave the house with out a diaper on her but 98% of the time it comes back dry. At home she tells me she has to go and we go. She even stops herself if she starts to have an accident. She wants so bad to read and makes up her own jibberish when looking at words. I was wearing my sparkly botox shirt that was given to me while working in dermatology. It has big letters spelling BOTOX on the front. She looked at it and took her finger sounding out her own sounds. The fact she knows the process from watching use teach Khalil amazes me. Whenever Kambria wants to be held she doesn't ask so to speak she says "Mom (not mommy) cum'ere" ( mom come here) Even if I am sitting right next to her I get this big whinny "Mom cum'ere." Yes irresistible. She love shoes and hats! I am not talking a little girl that likes to where shoes and hats, I mean LOVES them. We were at a party and I could find her. I looked at the front door and she was sitting in the middle of everyones shoes trying to put each one on her feet. When she caught me staring at her she got a huge grin and pointed out all the shoes. She is regularly found in her closet trying on shoes that are to small, Khalil's shoes, and my shoes. Yes she can walk in heels already!
I love my two kids. Days can be crazy and stressful. It is hard to feel like I am doing everything I can for them but I will continue to try my best. I can't imagine my days without them.

Khalil's Halloween Party

Khalil had a great birthday party. We decided to do a Halloween costume party and it was great. My little red dragon and tinkerbell won over the PaPa immediately!Even Kona got a costume! (and I didn't do it! Thanks Chase xo)

Here are the kids starting their popcorn relay.

They had so much fun and started helping each other as their bowls got full. Great Kids!

And of course the little ones kept themselves entertained also.

When the race was done they decided to eat. Now mind you, I didn't make the popcorn to be eaten so there was a burnt batch in there. Thank goodness kids are so forgiving!
Or just to excited to eat?

Hamburger and Hotdogs! mmm good

Then it was singing and presents. We got the cake on video so sorry not picture of our 3d pumpkin cake. Khalil loved all his gifts.

"ITS A MESS IN HERE!"

So just a couple of days ago Khalil and I were just hanging out doing our normal daily routine. I headed into my bathroom to either use the toilet or put on make-up??? I don't remember because what ever it was didn't get done! Khalil is my little shadow. Especially since he doesn't nap anymore, we do everything together! Well when he walked into my bathroom he looked around and with a shocked and disgusted tone stated " IT'S A MESS IN HERE!" I glanced around and the counters were clean, no laundry, hmmm? I was thinking it wasn't so bad. I just told him that it was o.k. I would clean it better later. I then started brushing my teeth... or mabye I did actually make it to the toilet. I then hear this banging and clanking in my room. Khalil then starts to whine that "its stuck." So I go to see what is stuck and this is what I find.
Cleaning it later was not an option. He had pulled the vacuum out of the hall closet and toted to my bathroom. I just smiled and laughed and tried to help. I was then told in a very adamant voice that he could do it himself. And he did!

I have these brown shaggy rugs in my bathroom that shed. Kona, our dog, likes to fluff them causing little brown strings. Vacuuming everyday in the bathroom doesn't happen. I control myself to once a week. That wasn't good enough for my little boy. He vacuumed every little speck off that floor for me. What a great helper!

And when he was done he kept smiling just like this. He was so proud and so was I!
LOVE YOU KHALIL!!!

Surprise surprise!!

So last weekend we decided to surprise our friends from georgia at the annual family rock climbing camp out. We were sent the invite on accident and then we started planning. We didn't tell anyone that we were coming because, well anyone who really knows us knows how Chase likes suprises! Wednesday I start loading the car. While running errands, we noticed a squeal in our brakes. Chase decided to change the brakes in between patients as a precautionary. Good thing. Not only did we have NO breaks on the passenger side but the bearing was completely shattered! The 10 minute break job turned into an all day ordeal. And he saw patients in between. Finally Thursday morning we are off headed to Sand Rock Alabama.
After 14 hours in the car we arrived at the camp ground at 10pm. We were all so tired that we set up our tent and went to sleep. The kids were a little excited to be sleeping in a tent. Khalil went to sleep fairly well but Kambria, not used to sleeping with everyone, crawled and rolled around the tent for at least 30 minutes before finally falling asleep.

The next morning we headed into town to buy some firewood to cook breakfast. There was no way were driving cross country with firewood. Well come to find out no one sold fire wood there. They just expected you to cut it down yourself. So Chase and I got creative and took the trash wood from the side of the road and drove it back to camp. This was not very good wood and ended up cooking breakfast over burning newspaper little by little.

After we finally got breakfast cooked we decided to get back in the car and get warm. No fire while camping in the cold was not the greatest but we had fun in the car!

It didn't take long for the kids to crash and take good naps. Being cold and sleeping in a tent was a lot for a one and two year old. But they had smiles on their faces the entire time!

Later that day our friends showed up and were very surprised. I mean who in their right mind would drive cross country to go camping!! Ya... we did! Crazy but so worth it. Here are some fun pictures of the kids all bundled up while we were out and about.

Here is Chase climbing. They climbed this spot with out a repel below them. They lead climbed this first ( no at the bottom holding your rope in case you fell!).
Then anchored the top rope for others. Awsome place for pictures.

After our camping trip we took the two hour drive into Atlanta to shower and get a good nights sleep before our long drive home. Greg and Jessie were awsome to let us crash at there house and have our friends over to say hi to people while we were in town. I didn't get a chance to call everyone so if we missed you sorry and mabye next time. That doesn't mean we don't like you!

( sorry about the sideways picture. It isn't this way on my computer. stinkin' blogger)

Sis. Hinckley has it right!

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someones garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."-Marjorie Hinckley

When I saw this on my friends blog I couldn't help but re-post. How perfect is this put. I sit here with my hair is a wadded pony tail, make-up worn off from a day of errands, a hole in the knee of my jeans because they are my most comfy pair and I had to much to do today to worry about it, and polish chipped of my toes from over a month ago. But I have tow beautiful children who love me and I them. Two great kids who decided to go right to bed in the same room tonight ( a first). A great husband who is unselfish and jumps at the opportunity to help someone else with out thinking, who love me and always knows how to make a bad day good. I have a great life with great kids and I hope when I show up and the pearly gates I wear my life and not my best clothes!

Gramps Came to Visit

So Gramps (aka Old Fart ) came to visit this last week and we had a great time. We went to the San Jacinto monument and the battleship Texas.

This picture was taken for one of my dear high school friends. She always takes pictures in cut outs and when I saw it I had to take one to post for her. It was so funny trying to get Kambria to hold her head in that hole. In fact we are holding it there for her and I was suprised the picture came out with out her screaming! But is was fun and silly! Khalil thought the picture was funny afterwards.

Here we are all in front of the ship.
I had never been!
Ahh!Confession!!

Yes, I know haydens a very serious sin! Possible abandonment from the family. But I did read (for Gary Hayden, knowing the drill I got the first time I told him I went to the alamo, but didn't really go that trip so didn't know the answers. Google helped)

I found out that this ship was the largest in the world for a short period of time. Imagine this ship being built in 1912! That is just crazy to me. There were no machines to do the work, all of it by hand.

Anyways, I love this picture of Gramps and the kids! So cute.

So here are my adorable kids climbing on the San Jacinto Monument. They only last so long in a museum. We did do a scavenger hunt with Khalil and Kambria had to make sure she was holding her brothers had being dragged, literally, behind him. She thought it was hilarious!

We were able to find old spoons and forks, girl coats (short coat uniforms) and boy coats (longer uniforms) as Khalil called them.

Kambria had fun being a big girl and didn't want anyone to hold her. She wanted to walk everywhere by herself. Well not really by herself, she had to be holding Khalils had or running after him.

She let Grandpa carry her up and down the stairs and even gave him kisses. She isn't a freely kissy girl. Thank goodness! I sure hope that one lasts forever!

Earlier we had gone to Bill's property so Grandpa could check it out. We ate lunch there and the kids got to run around some more.

It was a busy day.

The next day we had a chill day. Grandpa and I went over to the temple and let the kids walk around on the grounds. It was so nice to just sit and spend time talking on temple grounds. I really miss spending time with my family in Utah and cherish every moment I get. Thanks for coming to spend time with us grandpa. We love you and miss you very much.

The Lords Hand In All

I just needed to express my thanks a gratitude to the Lord and all he does for me and my family every day! I was talking to Chase tonight about how I see his hand in our lives every day right now. How grateful I am for the blessing I am receiving. I worry sometimes that as life goes on and things stabilize I might forget the daily guidance and comfort I am given. I might become to prideful to recognize when reaching out is more important then finances or calenders. I might forget how the spirit kept me calm and sometimes unaware of the disasters we were facing. Many times in the last year or two there have been moments that I would, according to everything I know about myself, have a complete melt down and anxiety attack, the Lord was watching and I didn't feel the anxiety or worry. In fact I didn't even really think about it until someone else would ask how I was handling it. It was nothing to me. That is not my nature. Those of you who really know me, know that I don't like a change in plans! Thank you to everyone out there who has been a true friend. I am writing this all down to never forget the strength I have been given, the comfort that has overcome me and the love I have seen all around.
